Newcastle United’s scouts are clearly still hovering around Italy as it’s now believed that the Magpies could move for 18-year-old Irish striker Kevin Zefi who is on the books at Inter Milan.
According to The Irish Examiner (via Shields Gazette), Newcastle have set their sights on Republic of Ireland Under 19 international Kevin Zefi who has one year remaining on his Inter Milan deal.
Zefi has not made a senior appearance for Inter but he has excelled in their youth setup playing as second striker or occasional left-winger, he scored 16 goals in 28 outings.
Zefi left Shamrock Rovers to join Serie A side Inter Milan
The 18-year-old left Shamrock Rovers in 2021 and headed to the San Siro. While not forcing his way into the first-team it certainly looks like it has been a good move for him in terms of development with his goalscoring record being impressive at any level.
Dan Ashworth is continuing to unearth young talent in order to bring them to Newcastle and get them playing the ‘Newcastle Way’ early in order to help their development and hopefully progress them into the Newcastle senior side.

Given that this one looks like a Dan Ashworth move it would suggest that Zefi’s first-team chances will still have to wait if he were to come to Newcastle, but if he does enough to convince Ashworth and Eddie Howe that he’s good enough, the door to the first-team is always open.
Lewis Miley proved that last season when he rose up the ranks to make his senior debut for Newcastle, almost marking it with a stunning goal.
Academy graduate Sean Longstaff is now such a key member of the side that when he picked up a knock last season Newcastle looked visibly worse without him in the side.
Newcastle want Zefi as part of the rebuild of the youth squad
These good-news stories should be used to convince any youngsters when they are thinking about whether Newcastle would be a good move for them.

Yes, our youth academy is still lagging behind other Premier League sides, which is why we keep missing out on targets such as Dujuan Richards who chose Chelsea over Newcastle despite a successful trial.
However, it just takes a few success stories to turn the tide and it won’t be long before Newcastle have plenty of those to boast about, and that’s what should sell Zefi on the move.
