Incoming Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has said that loanee Joao Felix does not feature in his plans next season which could alert Newcastle United.
Portuguese international Joao Felix spent the latter half of the season on loan at Chelsea following a falling out with Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone.
Much like everything else at Chelsea this season, the loan didn’t go as well as hoped, but Felix was far from terrible compared to some of the other high-profile signings the Blues made. However, it looks like Chelsea won’t be making his loan move a permanent one according to Marca.
Newcastle are keen to bring Felix to Tyneside
Newcastle hold an interest in taking Joao Felix off Simeone’s hands so they will be poised now that they know that Mauricio Pochettino doesn’t want the 23-year-old at Chelsea.
Felix netted four times for Chelsea over 16 Premier League games, the first one being over West Ham, after which Declan Rice called Felix ‘unbelievable‘.

Newcastle will be hoping that the apparent lack of interest in Felix combined with his falling out with Simeone could mean that they will be able to negotiate a bargain fee for the forward.
Felix would be a huge statement signing but his wages could be an issue
Ensuring we pay a reasonable fee will be key as Felix is currently on astronomical wages, and while it looks like there will be a big step up in Newcastle’s wage cap, Felix could be pushing those limits at £270,000-a-week.
Felix is a massive talent, he was just lost in that mess of a Chelsea team, and we don’t know exactly what went on between him and Simeone, but we all know that Simeone could start a fight in an empty room, so his attitude might not be as questionable as it looks.
If Newcastle get Felix that would be a huge statement.
