Sheffield Wednesday are keen to sign Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden in what remains of this summer transfer window.
According to The Star, Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday want to add Newcastle United outcast Isaac Hayden to their ranks before the transfer deadline passes.
Sheffield Wednesday are desperate for some extra quality. Having been promoted via the League One play offs last season, the Owls have endured a disastrous start to life back in the second tier. The Yorkshire club are without a point on the board, with four matches played.
Hayden himself is also in dire need of a change. Eddie Howe has already confirmed that there is no future for the 28-year-old at St James’ Park. The Tyneside club need to arrange an exit for the player, or else they face having him hanging around, on the books, probably training with the reserves, until at least January. That is a scenario that wouldn’t suit anyone.
The player did look set for a loan move to Luton Town, but that deal ultimately fell through. Hayden may now have to give up on the notion of retaining his Premier League status.
He has previously shown that he can be a star in the second tier. Hayden played a key role in Newcastle’s own Championship title-winning campaign of 2017. He featured 33 times in the league for the Magpies that season.

What next for Isaac Hayden?
However, Hayden had a very different experience of the Championship during his loan stint with Norwich City last season. The former Arsenal academy prospect was restricted to just 14 outings for the Canaries, as knee injuries seriously hampered his campaign.
Whether Hayden would be interested in making a move to Hillsborough Stadium remains to be seen. Xisco Munoz’s side are low on confidence, quality, and look set for a tough season spent battling against relegation. Another, more attractive destination, may yet present itself to Hayden. For their part, it is easy to see why Sheffield Wednesday are keen to add a player with Hayden’s experience and ability to their ranks.
