Chelsea’s scouts obviously chose the wrong game to cast their eye over Victor Osimhen as it has been reported that they are unimpressed with the striker, but Newcastle United remain interested in a summer move.
A report from Il Mattino in Italy (via Goal) has said that Chelsea‘s scouts were not impressed by striker Victor Osimhen as they watched the Serie A champions Napoli fell to a 2-0 defeat to Monza.
Osimhen’s future has been a hot topic all season with several big clubs keen on signing the striker who has bagged 23 goals in 29 appearances for Napoli this season. It’s believed now, though, that Chelsea may turn their attentions elsewhere leaving Manchester United as favourites to sign the Nigerian.
Osimhen was touted a ‘perfect’ signing for Chelsea recently
Ironically, it was only in March when Tony Cascarino lauded Osimhen as the ‘perfect‘ signing for Chelsea in The Times.
Newcastle are also named as a potentially interested club along with Real Madrid and PSG, so it seems that even if Chelsea do walk away, there are still plenty of good options for Osimhen should he decide to leave Napoli this summer.

I’d find it a bit odd that Chelsea would turn their back on a striker with a goals per game ratio as good as Osimhen’s after one poor game, especially given their struggles in front of goal this season, but if that is the case then it’s one less obstacle for Newcastle to overcome should they want to enter the race for the 24-year-old.
FFP would make a Newcastle move for Osimhen practically impossible
However, as much as I’d love to see Osimhen tearing up the Premier League in a Newcastle shirt, I still feel this one is beyond us this summer, even if we qualify for the Champions League.
Whoever it is who lands Osimhen in the summer is likely to have to pay over £100million for the striker with a price of £132million recently quoted.
Financial Fair Play rules make that one a no-go for Newcastle even with that Champions League money coming in, especially as the Magpies would need another three or four signings on top of that.
