It looks like Newcastle United’s interest in Lewis Hall is going to end in disappointment.

Eddie Howe is keen for his side to sign a left-back ahead of the new season, while he is always eager to bring in players who are versatile and can operate in multiple roles.

That is why speculation over Hall seemed enticing, as the 18-year-old can play at left-back or as a centre-midfielder.

But while the youngster might be a good fit on Tyneside, it does not look like Chelsea have any interest in letting the teenager swap Stamford Bridge for St James’ Park.

Chelsea will not sell Newcastle target Lewis Hall

According to Football Transfers, Chelsea will not let Hall leave the club this summer amid interest from Newcastle.

The report states that the Blues are ‘adamant’ that he is going nowhere and will not sell him under any circumstances.

That is bad news for Newcastle, who were hoping to snap up a player who Frank Lampard called a ‘quiet lad‘ towards the end of last season.

While last season was incredibly difficult for Chelsea, it was one to remember for Hall. He forced his way into the first-team setup in West London, making 11 senior appearances for the club.

Two of those came against Newcastle, with Hall actually making his Premier League debut in the game at St James’ Park. That was best remembered for Joe Willock’s screamer as the Magpies won 1-0 in their final game before the World Cup.

With Chelsea having no interesting in letting Hall go, Newcastle will have to scratch his name off of their list of targets.

And as time runs out and the Magpies’ need for a left-back increases, it will be interesting to see whether or not the club reignite their interest in Kieran Tierney from Arsenal. He was expected to sign for Newcastle this summer, but talk of him moving to Tyneside has gone very quiet since the transfer window officially opened.
