Chelsea are now considering £18m bid for ‘incredible’ Newcastle player, he could leave

Chelsea are now showing interest in one of Newcastle United’s players after already being linked with a move away in January.

Newcastle have a whole host of players whose future’s are still uncertain heading into the final week of the transfer window, but so far all offers have been rejected.

Callum Wilson was believed to be wanted by both AC Milan and Atletico Madrid and now Football Transfers claims that Chelsea are considering making an £18m bid for the striker.

Newcastle could still lose key striker to Chelsea

Although they are desperate for money to make any new signings, Newcastle have remained firm on their stance of only selling players at what they value them for and not accepting any lower offers.

So far, we’ve seen bids for Kieran Trippier and Miguel Almiron rejected as Newcastle don’t want to lose either, and now they will be forced into making a decision on Wilson’s future.

With 18 months left on his deal it is understood that the England international will be sold in the summer if an offer is not made in January so that Newcastle aren’t missing out on cashing in on the 31-year-old.

If Chelsea were to make a bid of £18m this month, there’s a good chance Newcastle accept as it is a decent fee for an aging player, the only issue is that they would be strengthening a direct rival.

Newcastle don’t want to sell in January

The Magpies are stuck between a rock and a hard place. They are desperate to sign new players but the Profit and Sustainability Rules means they have to sell to buy, and Eddie Howe doesn’t want to lose any of his key players.

With Wilson in particular, he is one of just two strikers at the club and, despite his injury record, has been an ‘brilliant ‘incredible‘ goalscorer for the club averaging almost one goal in every other game he plays.

Losing him would mean Alexander Isak would be the only option up top for Howe and the club would have to act very quickly to try and find a replacement for the second half of the season.

But if it is an offer that the club can’t refuse, it leaves them with no option to sell and possibly take their chances in what has already been a disappointing season.
