Celtic are interested in signing Newcastle United attacker Ryan Fraser this summer.
According to journalist Rudy Galetti, speaking to GiveMeSport, Celtic are keen to secure the services of Ryan Fraser from Newcastle. However, an official offer from the Hoops for the winger is yet to arrive at St James’ Park.
Eddie Howe is certainly keen to cut Fraser from the Newcastle roster. The 29-year-old was demoted to the Magpies under-21 squad last season. Howe has already spoken openly about wanting to move the player on this summer, but the terms of his contract at Newcastle may make him hard to shift.
Whether Celtic can propose a financial package substantial enough to lure Fraser away from Tyneside remains to be seen, but the temptation of playing Champions League football with the Scottish giants may well prove hard to resist.
Fraser is a Scot himself, and began his career with Aberdeen. The prospect of getting his career back on track in his home country may prove an attractive one. He’ll also stand a great chance of winning plenty of silverware with Celtic.

A move to suit Newcastle and Fraser
Fraser certainly needs to move on from Newcastle now for the good of his career. There is no way back for him at St James’ Park, and the 26-cap Scotland international needs to be playing regularly at his age. Howe certainly won’t stand in the way of his exit, and he has the quality to be a star for Celtic.
Newcastle themselves need to get Fraser’s wages off the books. It will help them with regard to meeting Financial Fair Play requirements, and will also clear space in their squad for further incomings.
The Magpies have made huge progress in recent times, and part of that involves cutting deadwood from the club. Shifting Fraser out on a permanent basis would represent another step forward for the club.
