Tony Cascarino has told The Times that Gini Wijnaldum and Aaron Ramsey would be two good signings to kick-start the new era at Newcastle. The Magpies were beaten 3-2 yesterday by Tottenham highlighting the magnitude of the rebuilding job for PIF.
New signings won’t be in the offing until January. After watching the first game of the new era, the new owners will be under no illusions of the work that lies ahead for the club.
Cascarino has delivered a brutal assessment after yesterday. He thinks the Newcastle renovation could cost north of £2 billion; suggesting the squad is desperately short of quality.
He’s name-checked Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson as sound players. Aside from the attacking duo, the former top-flight talisman doesn’t think there is much else to choose from.

Wijnaldum has suggested that he’s not overly happy with how his move to PSG has gone. The 30-year-old previously spent one year at Newcastle but joined Liverpool following the club’s relegation.
The midfielder has really kicked on since leaving St James’ Park. He often struggled for consistency during his short spell last time but was class for Liverpool; winning the Premier League and Champions League.
Cascarino thinks Wijnaldum and Ramsey would be good starters for the club. He told The Times: “Newcastle need to spend £2 billion on players over the next few seasons to have a top-four team. For now, they should target loans for players not getting a go at their clubs. Gini Wijnaldum and Aaron Ramsey would be a good start.”
Newcastle would relish experienced duo Wijandum and Ramsey
Wijnaldum could be a tricky signing to complete but Ramsey would be a real possibility. He’s way down the pecking order at Juventus and has no future under Massimiliano Allegri.
Ex-Newcastle man Wijnaldum has only just signed for PSG. Although he has only started six games this season he has signed a long contract worth £172,000-a-week in the French capital.

The Magpies could be in a relegation battle when the January window reopens. As a result, attracting the bigger names could prove tricky business.
Both Wijnaldum and Ramsey are at the age where they both need to play, however, and that could make Newcastle an attractive proposition for them.
