Newcastle United have confirmed that Elias Sorensen will spend the season on loan at Carlisle United.

The young striker enjoyed a couple of fruitful appearances in pre-season, but won’t get a first-team chance this season as things stand.

Sorensen looked promising off the bench against Wolves, then nearly grabbed a goal when he started against West Ham in the Asia Trophy.

Many fans wanted him to get a chance in the first-team, but our transfer business since then means Sorensen will have to settle for a spell away from St James’ Park.

It’s his second loan spell, and he’ll be praying this one is much more successful. Last season the 19-year-old went to Blackpool, but barely got a kick.

He’s had to drop down another division, but hopefully he can have a real impact in League Two for Carlisle United.

His new side are currently 10th, having won one and lost one of their opening two games. Steven Pressley’s side will have ambitions of winning promotion, having nearly reached the playoffs last time out.

And the Carlisle faithful seem very excited about Sorensen’s arrival, hoping he can score the goals to guide them up the table.
