Bizarre transfer report suggests Puma sponsorship could help Newcastle sign Morgan Sanson

Puma have been making Newcastle United’s kits since 2010. And 10 years on, they might be supplying more than just shirts.

They could apparently help us sign a player too. That’s according to reports in France, anyway.

BuzzSport claim that the Magpies are interested in Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson, and that their kit manufacturer could help complete the deal.

The report states that because Marseille are sponsored by Puma, that could influence where Sanson moves next. They claim that Puma bosses could help facilitate a transfer.

And putting two and two together, BuzzSport believe this could help Newcastle bring the midfielder to St James’ Park.

Where to begin with this one?

Well, Puma might not actually be making our kits next season. The German brand’s deal ends this summer, although the Chronicle claim that talks have been held to extend the partnership.

While Sanson is an excellent player who would certainly improve our midfield, this story seems a little far-fetched.

The 25-year-old could very well end up in the Premier League next season, and Newcastle have been linked in the past.

However, suggesting that our kit manufacturer could influence transfers seems ridiculous. It’s hard enough being Newcastle manager and having a say on transfers…

This is certainly a rumour that should be taken with a large pinch of salt.
