Tottenham Hotspur may look to sign Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin, as managing director Fabio Paratici is a huge admirer of the Frenchman.

That’s according to journalist Alasdair Gold, writing in his QnA for Football.London.

When asked by a Spurs fan whether the 25-year-old is an option for the Lilywhites this month, the reporter claimed that although the club really like the player, he doesn’t see a move happening this time around.

“Spurs have long been linked with Zaha and Paratici is a big fan of Saint-Maximin,” Gold said.

“Saint-Maximin has a long contract until 2026, so I can’t imagine he will come at a good price for a January window [move].

“Unless Newcastle have a sudden desire to get him out of the club – which there currently does not seem any reason for.”

Thus far this season, the attacker has made ten appearances in the Premier League, during which he has bagged one goal and three assists.

He has been largely absent due to hamstring and muscle injuries, and he has since struggled to regain his fitness.

Probably for the first time since he arrived on Tyneside, having joined the club in 2019 for £20m, the Frenchman is no longer a crucial part of the Magpies’ starting XI.

The side are currently flying under Eddie Howe, now third in the Premier League table.

Although the manager would love to have Saint-Maximin back, he has players like Miguel Almiron, Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak who are all excelling in attack.

Despite this, he is surely hopeful that the 25-year-old gets back to full fitness very soon, as he always has the ability to change the game when needed.

Otherwise, if the Tottenham transfer director comes in with a bid for the winger, it may be a tough decision for the Toon to make.
