Bayern Munich have new tactic to try and get Kieran Trippier out of Newcastle

Journalist Luke Edwards is claiming that Bayern Munich have tried a new kind of tactic to sign Kieran Trippier from Newcastle United this month.

The German giants have been unsuccessful in their three bids for the 33-year-old so far, though the first was a potential loan move which Newcastle won’t even consider.

However, Edwards is claiming that Bayern knew the second bid would be rejected and that it was just a clever tactic to try and unsettle Trippier who is currently happy at Newcastle.

Bayern still think they can pry Trippier away from Newcastle

Trippier is happy with his life in the North East and has a great relationship with everyone at the club so it would be difficult for Bayern to lure him away to a foreign country when his family have already returned from Madrid because of how unsettled they were.

But that’s not to say they are out of the race altogether, it would be a chance to join his former Tottenham teammates Harry Kane and Eric Dier which would likely make the transition a lot smoother.

The Bundesliga champions will also be able to offer Trippier Champions League football and the potential of winning the tournament, something Newcastle are miles away from right now.

Clearly Bayern still have a lot of hope that they can bring the England international to Bavaria before the window closes, even if Newcastle are wanting to keep their vice captain.

Trippier has informed the club he wants to stay

Despite all the benefits of joining a club as big as Bayern Munich, it’s understood that Trippier still prefers to stay on Tyneside and fight for the long-term project he first joined to help build towards.

The right-back is now a key figure at Newcastle and holds a lot of influence in the dressing room so this will have been great news for Eddie Howe who wants to keep this group together for the second half of the season.

It may be too late for top four, but Trippier can definitely still help his team to make a push for sixth in the Premier League and qualify for the Europa League, still a huge sign of progress for the long-term future of the club.
