Newcastle-linked Jesse Lingard is reportedly in talks with Nice about a possible loan move.
Sky Sports have reported that the 28-year-old is in discussions with the Ligue 1 outfit after slipping into the shadows at Old Trafford.
Lingard has made just three appearances in 2020/21, and has regularly been overlooked for matchday squads by Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Sky say an official approach is expected from Nice next week.
United are said to be mulling over whether to let Lingard depart on a temporary basis.
Lingard – who is said to earn around £100,000-a-week at United (Spotrac) – was linked with a move to Newcastle last summer, but links were renewed last week with 90min reporting the club are keen on three Red Devils including Lingard.
Time is ticking for Newcastle
With Nice supposedly set to make an approach for Lingard next week, the pressure is on for Newcastle to act.
The club need to be getting involved as soon as possible if they really want to land the midfielder.
There is a somewhat negative perception of Lingard, but realistically he’d be coming in on loan and he does have a creative side that Newcastle are crying out for at the moment.
