Kvaratskhelia is a wanted man

Kvaratskhelia is believed to be on the radar of several European clubs after impressing for Napoli this season, but the three Italian clubs rumoured to be interested in a move for the Georgian playmaker will have to turn their attentions elsewhere if what his agent, Mamuka Jugheli, said to Calcio Napoli 24 is true.

“There is lot of interest from other clubs but Kvara doesn’t think of any other club. He thinks only of winning the Scudetto and Napoli’s matches in the Champions League. He’ll take care of bringing happiness to the Neapolitans.”

“Kvara loves Napoli. He loves being there. He told me that in terms of football in Italy, he only sees himself in Naples. He will never play in any other Italian club, apart from Napoli”

After signing for Napoli for just £10m last year his form as been so impressive that it’s now reported that it would likely take a bid of £100m to lure him away from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium (90 Mins), which would be a mind-blowing return on investment, especially as a year ago Newcastle were contemplating a £50m bid for the youngster.

Are Newcastle priced out of a move?

That sort of figure does put a question mark over whether Newcastle’s interest is serious, having shown a reluctance to splash the cash in the last couple of transfer windows. However, at a certain point, if the club are to reach the heights they’re aiming for, they’re going to have to take a gamble and spend big, it’s unfortunately the nature of the modern game.

If Eddie Howe was to lodge a bid for the 22-year-old he’d have to fend off interest from several big clubs including Manchester City and Real Madrid, so it goes back to that whole thing of qualifying for the Champions League being key for making this calibre of signing, not just financially, but also to make the move more tempting for the player.
