There’s set to be a goalkeeper shake up at Newcastle United this summer with Loris Karius still mulling over a new contract and Karl Darlow looking likely to leave.

It now looks like Karl Darlow is wanted by three Championship clubs after his successful loan at Hull City in the latter half of last season.

The 32-year-old looks to be on his way out of Newcastle after over eight years on the books. With Loris Karius still weighing up whether he should stay or go, it seems as though Darlow’s fate is already sealed regardless.

Karl Darlow has been a fantastic servant over his tenure

While he was never able to nail down that first-team spot despite some top performances that landed him with praise from Callum Wilson who called him ‘unbelievable‘, Darlow is probably still too good to spend all his time on the bench.

With Middlesbrough and Hull City already making their interest in Darlow known Darlow, it now appears that Blackburn Rovers have entered the race. That’s according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon on his Patreon (via Teesside Gazette).

Darlow currently earns £30,000-a-week at Newcastle so may have to take a pay cut to make a permanent move to the Championship as that would likely make him a top-earner at a Championship side.

Newcastle could use Darlow in negotiations for Wharton

Newcastle have been linked to Adam Wharton of Blackburn which could come in handy if the two clubs end up around the negotiating table. If a swap deal could be worked out for the Blackburn youngster we’d be laughing all the way to the bank.

The 19-year-old turned some heads at Blackburn last season and the midfielder scored a blinder on the final game of the season.

It’s thought that Everton are keen on the youngster too, but Newcastle could now potentially use Karl Darlow in a deal.
