It sounds like Newcastle United transfer target Ruben Neves has made his mind up about his future.

The 26-year-old is being heavily linked with a move when the January transfer window opens, with multiple Premier League clubs registering an interest in the midfielder.

One of those is Newcastle, who are keen to loan Neves amid Sandro Tonali’s suspension. Neves could fill the void, but a temporary arrangement might not be possible.

That is because Premier League clubs are set to vote on a temporary ban on clubs loaning players to and from clubs with the same owners. That would stop Neves coming to Newcastle on loan, as his current employers Al Hilal are also owned by PIF.

However, there would be no issue for Arsenal, who are also showing some interest in the former Wolverhampton Wanderers star.

He is keen on a move back to the Premier League after failing to settle in Saudi Arabia, and a new report from TEAMtalk has provided an update on how Neves feels about his future.

Ruben Neves ‘intent’ on securing transfer away from Al Hilal

According to TEAMtalk, Neves is intent on leaving Al Hilal when the January transfer window opens. They state that he is hoping to join a club in the Premier League.

It does not state whether he has a specific club in mind, but it has previously been claimed by journalist Ben Jacobs that Neves would be open to signing for Newcastle United.

With Neves desperate for a move and willing to sign for Newcastle, you would think this is a no-brainer. But that is not going to be the case once the Premier League clubs stage their vote on November 21st.

If a temporary ban is put in place, it will mean the only way the Magpies can sign Neves is if they do a permanent deal. That will be very expensive, with the report from TEAMtalk claiming that Al Hilal will want around £60million for the Portugal international.

A fee in that region would make him Newcastle’s second most expensive signing ever behind Alexander Isak, which is difficult to envision happening given the club’s ongoing financial fair play concerns.

That might rule Newcastle out, giving another Premier League club a chance to do a deal for a player who is ‘intent’ on changing clubs in January.
