A Swansea City fan may have beat the club to announcing the arrival of Harrison Ashby from Newcastle United after she spotted something in the training photos.

After Swansea City posted a gallery to their official site of training preparations ahead of this week’s season opener against Birmingham, one fan spotted something at the edge of an image that may just confirm that Harrison Ashby is already in training with the Swans.

The 21-year-old Newcastle full-back has been rumoured to be Swansea-bound this week with talks of a medical having been booked already.

Swansea seem to have slipped up by not cropping a training image

Now it seems that the former West Ham man is already training with his new club after a Twitter user matched up the arm in the edge of one of the training images to another of Ashby in short sleeves and noticed that the tattoo on the Swansea image matched perfectly to the one seen on Ashby.

It seems you can’t keep eagle-eyed fans from finding things out when they want to.

Ashby has been linked with a season-long loan at Swansea despite his impressive appearances for Newcastle in pre-season.

Eddie Howe wants Ashby to play regularly this season

The youngster, signed from West Ham for £3million in January is tipped to be the long-term successor to Kieran Trippier at right-back for Newcastle.

Eddie Howe had said that he wants Ashby to have regular football this season and that’s not something he would have got if he’d stayed around at Newcastle with Kieran Trippier the preferred choice at right-back.

Hopefully Ashby will get plenty of opportunities to play while on loan in the Championship so that when he comes back he can step in as the deputy for Trippier while learning from the England international with a view to taking over the reins in the future.
