On his 21st birthday, Geordie Boot Boys look back at Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall’s best moment in a black and white shirt.
Fans have only gotten to see small glimpses of the youngster during the 2025/26 campaign due to injury, and are eagerly awaiting his return to the starting XI.
Lewis Hall missed the last couple of months in the 2024/25 season after picking up an ankle injury, but had been on a brilliant run of form before then. The defender was also forced to miss Newcastle United’s historic Carabao Cup win, with good friend Tino Livramento taking his place at left-back in his absence.
The fans have welcomed the boyhood Newcastle fan to the club with open arms after joining on an initial loan from Chelsea with an option to buy for £28m. Hall has since established himself as a top left-back in the Premier League, making his debut for England in late 2024.
On his birthday, we look back at Lewis Hall’s best moment in a Newcastle shirt. For us, there was one which stood out from the rest.
- Who is Lewis Hall? Newcastle United’s star left-back who is destined for England greatness

Lewis Hall’s best moment as a Newcastle United player
Having been a part of the squad during the 2023/24 season, Hall will likely play a big part in Newcastle’s Champions League campaign, being included in the club’s B-list due to his age.
Hall has come leaps and bounds under Howe, but it was a moment during his loan spell which takes the top spot for us.
Newcastle were handed a tricky draw away to Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup two seasons ago, a ground where they have historically struggled to get wins. However, the Magpies gave Erik ten Hag’s side a clinic, thrashing them 3-0 in their own ground.
Joe Willock and the since-departed Miguel Almiron also scored during the clash, but Hall’s sensational volleyed strike stood out.
It was a striker’s finish from the defender, playing in midfield for the game, who volleyed past goalkeeper Andre Onana. To top it all off, Hall brought out a sensational knee slide, rounding off an iconic moment for the club.
Lewis Hall can have a long and successful career at Newcastle United
Former sporting director Paul Mitchell thinks Newcastle overpaid for Hall, but the defender has more than paid back his £28m price tag by helping the Magpies win the Carabao Cup and secure Champions League football for this season.
Hall appears to be loving his time at Newcastle under Howe, and could be a major part of the first team for years to come, given his age and experience at this point.
Additionally, if Hall keeps his good form up this season, there is a very good chance that he could be part of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad that will hopefully travel to North America for next year’s World Cup.
Hall has experience with Tuchel from their days at Chelsea, the German head coach handed him his professional debut in an FA Cup clash aged 17.
Newcastle have one of the brightest young stars in Europe with Hall. He could undoubtedly become a hero on Tyneside if he chooses to stay for many years.
