Newcastle travel to the Capital where they have already played twice this season, beating Spurs 1-0, and suffering a defeat to Chelsea by the same margin.

If Newcastle can leave the London Stadium with another 1-0 win, it will be a vital win, which could put them in a good position ahead of the Bournemouth home game next week.

West Ham have been struggling lately too, with Manuel Pellegrini’s side not picking up a Premier League win in their last four games.

Newcastle’s problems are goals, and if they can start finding the net consistently, the results will pick up, as the defense is doing their job, more often than not.

So it will be a tough clash on Saturday, and may not be pretty at times. Here are what the experts are predicting:

Lawro highlights the inconsistency of West Ham, which has seen them pick up just two points from their last 12.

But on Newcastle he said: “They will come to London Stadium and try to park the bus.

“Steve Bruce’s side cannot really do anything else, because they offer such little threat going forward – which is why I am backing West Ham, despite their poor form.”

The former Arsenal striker believes West Ham often “become a bit tense” when playing at home, and thinks Ryan Snodgrass could be a danger man for the Hammers.

But he also praised the Steve Bruce, claiming he has “done a fabulous job” so far.

He added: “He doesn’t have two up front to play and he loves playing with two strikers. Everything he has had to build, he has done so from the back, so they have to go back to front, but Newcastle’s away record is good – they will frustrate them but West Ham will just edge it.”

Savage is a little more optimistic about Newcastle’s chances. Although not going as far as predicting a Newcastle win, at least he is not expecting Bruce’s side to lose.

Prediction: West Ham 1-1 Newcastle

It pains me to say it, but I think Newcastle will struggle to get anything on Saturday.

If Bruce would play a formation that would get more from Joelinton – playing a second striker alongside him, for example – I could see us nicking it.

But Bruce is unlikely to change his ways, which will see us surrendering the vast majority of possession again, and with our struggles in attack, it will be difficult to hold out for the full 90 minutes.

Prediction: West Ham 2-0 Newcastle

James Rutherford – GBB writer

West Ham have been pretty inconsistent so far, so there’s hope we can get something from the game. I reckon a draw is about as good as it will get though.

Whatever happens, we need to score the first goal otherwise heads will drop.

Prediction: West Ham 1-1 Newcastle
