Newcastle United made it six home wins in a row last night, beating Crystal Palace 1-0.
It was another sensational night at St James’ Park, which is now a fortress once again. Newcastle seem unbeatable at home.
In fact, they haven’t lost in the league at SJP since a 4-0 drubbing from Manchester City late last year. Just ignore the cup humiliation to Cambridge in January…
The Magpies have done well on the road too, getting vital wins away to Leeds, Southampton and Brentford.

Newcastle are a new team in 2022, and now have a chance of finishing in the top half. That’s incredible when you remember where we were at the start of the year.
The worrying thing for other clubs is that Newcastle can still get even better – and that’s without new recruits in the summer.
Newcastle are doing this without Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson
Howe still has £32million worth of talent in the treatment room. £12million Kieran Trippier and £20million Callum Wilson haven’t featured for a long time.
Wilson’s last game was the 1-1 draw with Manchester United. As for Trippier, he hasn’t played since the 1-0 win over Aston Villa on February 13th – when he scored the winner.

10 games have passed since then, and the Magpies have put another 19 points on the board.
Considering how vital Trippier looked when he first signed, it’s incredible how well we’ve done in his absence. Emil Krafth deserves a lot of credit.
And we’re still without our best striker. While Chris Wood has played well, he doesn’t have the same goalscoring pedigree as Wilson.
We will be an even better team with Trippier at right-back and Wilson leading the line. That has to be hugely encouraging for Howe, and a worrying thought for our Premier League rivals.
