According to the Liverpool Echo, Xherdan Shaqiri has been priced at £13 million by Liverpool.
The forward has not had a particularly great time at Anfield since moving there in 2018 from Stoke City.
Regular starts have been very difficult to come by for him. One would expect no less given Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota are all at the club.
Supposedly Lazio are in for the Switzerland international.
But surely Newcastle ought to get involved, as Shaqiri is a player who may feel he has a point to prove.
Newcastle should go for Shaqiri
In an ideal world, Joe Willock will be signed on a permanent deal from Arsenal.
But if the club cannot land the Englishman, then Premier League title-winner Shaqiri would be a decent alternative.
His favourite position is as a number 10 (via Liverpool Echo), but his versatility means he can operate on either flank.
His performances at Euro 2020 have served as a reminder of his quality.
Shaqiri will turn 30 in October, but £13 million is a very good price for a player who’s racked up 129 Premier League appearances to date.
