Report claims Newcastle are 'monitoring' Jordan Pickford

It was laughable when Danny Murphy claimed last month that Jordan Pickford could join Newcastle. Now TalkSPORT claim that the Magpies are ‘monitoring‘ the goalkeeper’s situation.

They report that Pickford could be sold by Everton this summer, as they look to cash in on the England stopper. That’s regardless of whether or not they stay up.

Pickford is one of their more sellable assets, so it’s no surprise they’d considering selling given their financial situation.

But to Newcastle? In their dreams. Yes, we have the money to sign him, and that’s probably what the Toffees want.

However, there’s absolutely no way Eddie Howe and co should even consider making a move for the 28-year-old.

Jordan Pickford to Newcastle? No chance!

First and foremost, we do not believe this rumour in the slightest. It seems like absolute nonsense. Even more so given it comes from TalkSPORT, which is where Murphy spouted his rubbish about Newcastle possibly signing the Sunderland-born stopper.

Yes, Newcastle do appear to be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer. But there’s no way they’re going to bring in Pickford. He’s public enemy number one every time he steps foot inside St James’ Park. The boos are thunderous.

Howe experienced the boos first hand in February when Newcastle beat Everton 3-1. If he decides to make a move for Pickford after that then he’s either very brave or very stupid…

But the Toon manager isn’t going to make that mistake. TalkSPORT might claim the Magpies are ‘monitoring’ Pickford, but that’s ambiguous in itself.

The only person who might be interested is Kieran Trippier, who recently described Pickford as one of his ‘best pals‘ given their time together with England.

Everton might intend on cashing in this summer, but there’s absolutely no way he’ll be calling St James’ Park home.
