Newcastle are being linked with more players each day, as January’s transfer window approaches, and Real Valladolid centre-back Mohammed Salisu is the latest, according to Spanish publication Diario De Valladolid.
Salisu is a 6ft 2in defender, who has broken into the Spanish club’s first team this season, making 14 appearances in La Liga so far.

The Ghanaian is a powerful presence, and is allegedly being watched by a host of interested clubs from around Europe, as they all look to do business in the winter trading period.
Salisu is believed to have a €12 million (£10.3m) release clause, which is why he is attracting so much attention from so many interested clubs.
According to the report, other than Newcastle, Premier League clubs Manchester United, Everton, Southampton and Norwich are monitoring the player.

Spanish sides, as well as Bayer Leverkusen, Shalke 04, Wolfsburg and Mainz of Germany are also in the frame to try to sign the 20-year-old.
Newcastle have been linked with a number of defenders
Newcastle have numbers at centre-back, and it is something of a surprise to see us linked to so many player at the same position, with Monaco’s young teenage talent Benoit Badiashile another young central defender Newcastle have been reportedly monitoring too.
Of course, with Newcastle, they are always one report away from a conspiracy theory, and with so many defenders linked, fans may soon be thinking it is a sign Ashley may want to cash in on Fabian Schar’s success.

But that would be just speculation, and Newcastle are surely more likely to be looking to tie their Swiss defender down to a new deal – similar to the one given to Martin Dubravka – than they are to be selling him.
But there were reports that Federico Fernandez may be allowed to leave, and speculation over the future of Ciaran Clark was rife in the summer, but that was before the pair made such a big impact when they got their chance in the starting lineup.
Time will tell how much truth there is is all the stories floating about, regarding both incomings and outgoings, but if Newcastle are looking at further adding to their defensive numbers, fans should be excited about some of the names being mentioned.
