Armando Broja and Moussa Diaby would be brilliant signings for Newcastle United this summer.
The pair have been heavily linked with moves to St James’ Park, as Eddie Howe looks to boost his attacking ranks.
The Magpies have spent the start of the summer improving their backline, with two defenders joining the club and a new goalkeeper arriving.
Matt Targett and Nick Pope joined, and they’ve since been followed by long-term target Sven Botman.
Next on the agenda for Newcastle is the opposite end of the pitch, as Howe looks to add more goals to his side.
New striker needed, and Broja fits the bill
After missing out on Hugo Ekitike, Newcastle now appear to be turning their attentions to Broja.
The 20-year-old is back at Chelsea after spending last season on loan at Southampton, where he scored nine goals in all competitions. He faded towards the end of the campaign, but was impressive overall. He’s still very raw, but has the potential to develop into a special player.
He’s attracting interest from the Magpies and West Ham, with Thomas Tuchel set to make a decision on the striker’s future soon.
Newcastle have reportedly discussed a loan deal for the youngster, and that could be a perfect move by Dan Ashworth.
Moussa Diaby would be the dream signing
Newcastle’s other priority position is right wing, with Howe wanting someone to play alongside Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson.
While our striker addition will compete with Wilson, our wide signing should walk straight into the starting XI.
Moussa Diaby certainly would if he joined from Bayer Leverkusen. However, his asking price could be an issue. It’s been reported that the Bundesliga side want £51million for the 22-year-old.
That’s more than Newcastle are willing to pay. But perhaps the Magpies can up their valuation if they land Broja on loan.
That would mean the club don’t need to splash out on a new permanent striker. The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been linked, but will cost £60million.
Getting Broja on loan is a much better option, and means Newcastle can spend their transfer kitty elsewhere. It will give Ashworth more money to potentially spend on someone like Diaby who would be a sensational signing.
The Frenchman is an incredible footballer, and was described as ‘astonishing‘ for his performance against Borussia Monchengladbach last year.
Diaby can score goals and create them, and could be Newcastle’s biggest signing to date since the change of ownership.
Toon fans are dreaming of him joining the club, and it might become a bit more possible if Newcastle can end their striker search with the loan addition of Broja.
Getting Broja temporarily will allow Newcastle to splash out on Diaby, and that would cap off an extraordinary summer.
