As if Newcastle United’s defeat to Sunderland couldn’t get any worse, what happened after the game was even more alarming.
A dreadful display meant that Newcastle United lost to Sunderland once again at St James’ Park, despite being gifted a lead following an early mistake.
An absolute legend but there’s no coming back from this…
It was such a haphazard and weak display in the second half that Eddie Howe’s side were booed during their lap of appreciation, while the performance was labelled as cowardly by supporters on social media.
Howe has urged Newcastle supporters to blame him for the defeat and a decision the club reportedly made after the game means that might have to be the case.
Newcastle do not elect a player to speak to journalists after Sunderland defeat
That’s because, according to James Copley of the Sunderland Echo, Newcastle decided not to put up a player to speak to the written press after the defeat.
Furthermore, after the loss, a video was posted on Newcastle United’s official X account of a post-match interview with Howe, but nothing from a player.
Was selling Isak in the manner they did where the wheels started to come off for PIF at Newcastle?
That is an alarming decision. Clearly, that is not to say that players don’t want to speak to the media, but the fact that a decision has reportedly been taken to prevent that will not make fans feel any better.
Words can only do so much of course the supporters surely deserve answers. Howe alone fronting up is not really good enough.

It hardly speaks to a team who can seriously pull themselves together. At least fronting up would indicate that there’s still some drive to improve in the ranks.
There’s an international break around the corner, so are the club just hoping to bury their heads in the sand and return to domestic action next month like nothing happened? It seems that way.
One of the best things about this Newcastle team over the years has been their fighting spirit and togetherness. They have generally responded to most of the setbacks that have come their way.
