If the pubs were open, a lot of Newcastle United fans would want to buy Adama Traore a pint right now.

The speedster scored in the 92nd minute to hand Wolves victory over Fulham, and give Newcastle a huge boost in their bid to avoid relegation.

If Fulham had won last night, they would have dumped the Magpies into the bottom three for the first time this season.

That would have put Steve Bruce under even more pressure.

Fortunately, Wolves struck late to deliver a hammer blow to the confidence of Scott Parker and co.

Newcastle now have the chance to move six points clear of the relegation if they can beat Burnley on Sunday.

In fact, Newcastle will now play twice before Fulham’s next game. Win both and the Magpies can really start dreaming of next season in the top flight.

But the pressure is still on to get a result at Turf Moor. It remains a must-win game, but for different reasons.

They could have been looking to get out of the relegation zone had Fulham won, but instead they’ll be looking to increase the gap between themselves and the bottom three.

It nearly wasn’t to be, with a VAR decision robbing Wolves of the lead late in the first half.

It felt like one of those nights where things were going Fulham’s way.

But Traore struck late on with a minute to spare to grab a winner and break Fulham hearts. Mario Lemina was seen crying at full time.

But there were tears of joy on Tyneside, as Toon fans toasted Adama Traore’s goal.
