A report on Italian publication Lazio News 24 claims Newcastle skipper Jamaal Lascelles is interesting Serie A side Lazio.
The report alleges that Lascelles, along with Arsenal’s Calum Chambers, is on their wish-list for defensive reinforcements this summer.

The report sounds very dubious, to say the least, and it would be a huge shock if Lascelles was not captaining the Newcastle side in August.
His rapport with the club and its fans mean he will not be agitating for a move away from St James’ Park, and has spoken before about his love for both.

Manager leaving could affect Jamaal Lascelles’ thoughts on his future
Of course, the potential fly in the ointment is the situation regarding Rafa Benitez and his Newcastle United future.
So many of the players hold the manager in such high regard that, were he to leave, some of them may be tempted to follow him.
The Spaniard’s departure could leave several of the senior squad questioning the ambitions and future direction of the football club.

If that is the case, it could lead to an exodus of our best players.
But even if that were to be the case, a move to Lazio would surely not be a priority for Lascelles, and other Premier League clubs would be almost certain to show an interest.
Fans will point to the fact that the current players signed contracts to play for Newcastle United Football Club, not just Rafa Benitez, and have an obligation to honour their deals – regardless of who is in charge.
All problems could be solved easily though – by simply reaching an agreement with Benitez to stay at St James’ Park for the next few years.
