After Joelinton’s awful afternoon against Rochdale, Newcastle’s need for a striker is clear. And according to the Sun, Steve Bruce has identified AC Milan forward Krzysztof Piatek as a target.

The 24-year-old is wanted on loan, with the Sun claiming that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return to the San Siro could help the Magpies’ move for Piatek.

If Newcastle had a goalscorer, they probably wouldn’t have an FA Cup replay with Rochdale on the horizon. Joelinton missed some absolute sitters in the first half, which eventually led to him feeling the wrath of the travelling fans and supporters online.

But would Piatek have got the job done for the Magpies? His goal record is a lot more convincing.

He scored 19 goals in 21 games for Genoa, which earned him a £31 million move to AC Milan. Piatek hasn’t been as clinical in the fashion capital, but has still managed 15 goals in 38 games.
