The eyes of the footballing world will be on Newcastle United’s game with Manchester United this weekend.
Cristiano Ronaldo is set to make his second debut for the Red Devils, after completing a stunning return to the club at the end of the summer transfer window.
The superstar is already back from international duty and will no doubt be raring to go.
At the age of 36, Ronaldo is no longer the absolute goalscoring machine he once was.
He may often sit on the periphery of games these days, but he’s still top-class and carries an enormous threat.
While he will likely be the main point of focus on Saturday, Newcastle must give equal attention to someone who has got off to a flier in 2021/22.
Mason Greenwood already has three goals to his name this term.
The youngster has started all three of their games so far, and should keep his place in the team despite Ronaldo’s arrival.
Dan James was sold to Leeds United and Marcus Rashford is not yet fit, so there is a more than reasonable chance he’ll start.
Newcastle must beware red-hot Greenwood
Greenwood – who has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month for August – is a huge talent.
The English teenager has gotten back on track after some struggles last season that led to poor form.
He is looking deadly right now, and Newcastle simply must get tight to him at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo is obviously a danger and he will, naturally, occupy a lot of Newcastle’s attention.
But the Magpies simply must ensure they do not forget about Greenwood.
Arguably, so lively he’s been so far, he’s worthy of being doubled-up on.
