Newcastle have been linked with some ridiculous players in recent weeks, with takeover talk leading to the Magpies seemingly wanting every footballer on the planet.

Names from all across Europe have been linked with joining Newcastle once a takeover happens, all of which have been taken with a pinch of salt on account of the fact the takeover hasn’t even happened yet.

While the Premier League checks continue to cause a delay, a player is set to become available who Newcastle should sign regardless – Ryan Fraser.

The winger’s contract at Bournemouth is set to expire this summer, and the Cherries have confirmed that he will not extend his deal at Dean Court.

Not only that, but Fraser won’t even sign a short-term extension to keep him at Bournemouth until the end of project restart.

That means the speedster will leave Bournemouth on June 30th, which is convenient for our trip down south the following day.

Fraser should swap black and red for black and white

It seemed certain for a while that Fraser would be available for nothing this summer. But with that now confirmed, Newcastle must act.

Whether we are taken over or not, Fraser is the kind of player we should be bringing to the club right now.

He’s got pace to burn and would fit in excellently alongside Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin. And while those two took a while to bring goals and assists to their game, Fraser has already proven he’s capable.

In the 2018/19 season, only Eden Hazard beat his tally of 14 assists.

Capable of playing on the left or the right, Fraser would add depth in an area where we’ve been lacking. And at just 26-years-old, he still has his best years ahead of him.

He’s proven that he can play at a higher level, which is where Newcastle want to be themselves if PCP Capital Partners complete a takeover.

If the takeover does collapse, the Scot is an ideal, low cost signing that would typify the Mike Ashley era.

Lots of clubs will be chasing Fraser, and Newcastle have to make sure they are one of them.
