You’d be excused for forgetting that Jack Colback and Henri Saivet are still Newcastle United players. Sorry for reminding you.
The midfield duo failed to leave in the summer, despite not being selected for Steve Bruce’s Premier League squad. Neither player has had a single minute of competitive football this season, and that’s unlikely to change in 2020.

According to the Telegraph, the Magpies will once again look to move the pair on in January.
It’ll be the last chance to get some money for Colback, whose contract finally expires in the summer. As for Saivet, he could stay at St James’ Park until the summer of 2021.
The Telegraph state that the pair are both on around £50,000-a-week, which highlights how imperative it is that we get rid of them – and how difficult it’s going to be. That’s a ridiculous amount of money to be paying a footballer who doesn’t play, let alone two footballers.

Newcastle want to sign Granit Xhaka in January on loan, but money could be a stumbling block. It would certainly be a lot easier to afford the Swiss international if the likes of Colback and Saivet weren’t taking home a wage every week without actually contributing to the club.
Colback and Saivet’s futures need to be resolved as soon as possible. The sooner they leave Newcastle the better. Sadly, they seem impossible to move on.
