Rolando Aarons couldn’t have asked for a tougher first game after swapping Newcastle for Motherwell.
The winger joined the Scottish Premiership side on transfer deadline day, and was handed his debut on Wednesday night. It was a tough baptism of fire, up against league leaders and reigning champions Celtic.

But that didn’t faze Aarons, who took the game to the Hoops and nearly capped off a debut to remember with a goal.
The 24-year-old had a few efforts on goal. He was denied from distance early on, then Aarons hit the post in the 29th minute before being penalised for a foul.
Aarons forced an excellent save from Fraser Forster, another former Magpie, on the stroke of half-time, unable to find a way past the Hexham-born stopper.

His debut ended after 57 minutes, but Aarons certainly impressed the Motherwell fans on his first outing.
Despite the 4-0 thrashing, fans were happy with their newest recruit. Will Scotland be the place where Aarons realises his potential after a stop-start career so far? Here’s hoping for the lad.
