So the cat is out of the bag, as Newcastle United have officially unveiled their new home kit for the 2019/2020 season.
It turns out that it is very similar to the leaked version, although from the promotional pictures on their website, it does seem to have at least some stripes on the back.

The official line from the Newcastle United website, is that it “pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of the club’s Inter-Cities Fairs Cup win”, but fans have been quick to question that on Twitter.
The round neck line, in black and white, does replicate that of the 1969 jersey, but to be honest, that is just about the only similarity between the two.
It has just two very broad white stripes on the front of the new top, compared to the four narrower stripes used on the Fairs Cup campaign 50 years ago (pictured below).

The shirt also features a white tonal badge, and from the teaser shots, a black panel across the top of the back, emblazoned with ‘NUFC’ on it, and at a semblence of some stripes beneath that – which were not included on the leaked versions.
But supporters have been quick to point out the lack of similarity between the 1969 kit and this new one.
