Martin Dubravka could reportedly make a loan move from Newcastle United to Manchester United, months after it was the Magpies wanting to borrow a player from Old Trafford.
The Slovakian goalkeeper seemed certain to feature in Wednesday night’s cup tie with Tranmere Rovers. However, he was nowhere to be seen when the teams were announced.
It later emerged that he was in talks over a move to Manchester United, as Erik ten Hag looks to sign another goalkeeper.

It looks like that goalkeeper could be Dubravka, who is keen on a move to the North West.
Seeing him leave will be disappointing, but it’s essential that Newcastle move at least one more senior goalkeeper on this summer. But should Dan Ashworth and co make it easy for the Red Devils given what happened in January?
Man United stopped Newcastle loaning Jesse Lingard
Back in January, Newcastle were looking for reinforcements to boost their survival hopes. Jesse Lingard was identified as a player who Eddie Howe wanted, and he wanted the move to St James’ Park.

He wasn’t playing at Man United, meaning this deal seemed like an easy one to do. However, that’s not what happened.
Instead, they priced Lingard out of a move to Tyneside. Man United wanted Newcastle to pay a ridiculous amount of money to loan the England international.
The Guardian reported in January that Man United wanted Lingard’s wages covered in full by Newcastle, plus an initial £2.5million.
That was fair enough, but then things got stupid. The fallen giants reportedly wanted an additional £12million from the Magpies if they avoided relegation.

They were looking to take advantage of Newcastle’s newfound wealth, pricing their player out of a move away when they had no use for him.
Of course, the Toon owners said no and survived without Lingard. Fast forward to August and it’s Man United who want to loan a Newcastle player.
While the Magpies will probably be forgiving, the club are well within their rights to demand big money to take Dubravka on loan for the season.
Newcastle have the perfect chance to get revenge on Manchester United. They won’t take it, but that’s the difference between the two clubs right now.
