Newcastle fans hoping for an ambitious appointment to replace their hero Rafa Benitez will not be happy with the latest Tweet from Sky Sports’ North East reporter Keith Downie.
He claims that Steve Bruce is one of the names under consideration for the vacant post at St James’ Park, in a possible move that could be the final straw for many Toon fans.
A report in the Chronicle stated that the new man must have Premier League coaching experience, and as poor as his CV reads, Bruce does tick that particular box.
But fans will be dismayed at the thought of the former Sunderland boss taking over, in a move akin to when they gave Joe Kinnear a job, or appointed Steve McClaren or John Carver.

It will almost certainly lead to an all-out fan revolt, and it would be difficult to see how he could ever win fans over across Tyneside.

Of all the names that have been thrown at fans over the weeks – and many of those have been average, at best – Bruce would be the most dire appointment of all of them.
He would be such an underwhelming choice that fans are sure to see it as an apppointment from a detested owner, simply to spite them.

It would leave the very real possibility of the home side’s manager being booed when he steps out to the dugout for his first game in charge at St James’ Park.
If we had any sway whatsoever with anyone at the football club, we would implore them to look elsewhere.
