Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has broken his silence on the ongoing takeover speculation.
The saga continues though, with no official confirmation or comment from the club.
Every day sees someone new claiming ‘exclusive’ information regarding when the deal will or will not be done, but alas fans still remain in the dark.
But for the first time, Bruce has weighed in on the speculation.

He told Sky Sports: “If it’s good for Newcastle, and the club are going to try to compete with these teams, to be part of it would be great.
“I would love to see it and I’d love to be part of it.
“I hope it’s where it goes, but in the meantime I’ll just crack on, wait, roll my sleeves up and get on with trying to get some results to try and get the club going forward.”
What do Bruce’s comments mean?
Would Bruce really say these things if he wasn’t confident about the deal going through? He’d look very silly if Mike Ashley was to remain in charge.
So while we await confirmation, a lot of Toon fans have taken Bruce’s comments as another step closer to the deal being completed.
But was it also a plea to keep his job? That’s how some fans on Twitter see it.

Ever since the takeover talk heated up, every manager under the sun has been linked with replacing Bruce. There’s been talk of a bumper contract for Mauricio Pochettino, a possible Rafa Benitez return, and even reports in Spain that Zinedine Zidane is the wanted man.
While this is all speculation and gossip, you will struggle to find any fan who expects to see Bruce continue as manager beyond this season.
But fans have reacted with glee to his takeover comments, believing it means a deal is close to completion.

Wasn’t at all confident this takeover was going to happen. However, after hearing that Steve Bruce it feels now as if it is only a matter of time. Basically a plea for his job. Thrown himself under the bus If Ashley stays now. #nufc

I was starting to doubt that #NUFCTakeover would happen but this openness by #SteveBruce, I think it’s confirmation that, as things stand, it’s on, it’s happening, that the announcement is imminent. His words suggest to me that he won’t defo be booted (pun!) out in the summer. https://t.co/PnCt9QsizP

After watching this I’m 100% convinced its done. Steve Bruce and the players already know. That interview with Bruce is akin to someone desperately pleading to keep their job. Cans ain’t going to be enough. KEGS. #nufc
