Newcastle were handed a double blow on Thursday, with news that both Fabian Schar and Andy Carroll have picked up injuries ahead of this weekend’s game against Wolves.
Schar, of course, would have been a certain starter, while there was a slim chance that Carroll could have been in the side too.

As it is, they will not even be in a position to use him from the bench, with a minor groin strain now ruling him out.
Schar has a knee issue, which he suffered in the defeat at Chelsea, and Sky Sports’ north east reporter Keith Downie says the level of the injury is still being assessed.
He also adds that the game is likely to come too early for either Matt Ritchie or Florian Lejeune, which means Newcastle are now without four players for the important Premier League match.
Newcastle fans offer mixed reaction to injury news

Fans have reacted on social media to the news, and it is fair to say they are disappointed, but not too surprised at the Magpies’ bad luck.
