Harry Kane didn’t get a penalty against us on Sunday and he’s still not happy about it.
Tottenham’s talisman collided with Jamaal Lascelles in the box, with the pair ending up on the floor as Newcastle fans had hearts in mouths awaiting the VAR verdict.
Mike Dean didn’t give the penalty, and VAR didn’t overrule him. The game went on, and Newcastle won 1-0.

But the England captain isn’t happy at all. He told the Mirror: “Mike Dean said that he just didn’t know, he couldn’t see, so that’s where the VAR is there to help him out.
“If he had said ‘no penalty’ and the VAR said it was a 50-50, you can agree. I don’t know what the conversation was – whether he said he didn’t see it or not, but from my point of view, it’s hard to understand.
“It is hard to understand how it hasn’t been given. Just like when a keeper comes out, uses his arms and trips you up – it’s a penalty. I kind of tripped over his (Lascelles) arm and then his body.”
My immediate reaction was penalty. But on closer inspection, you can see Kane shift his body towards Lascelles and away from the ball, initiating contact with the Magpies skipper.

Either way, it wasn’t given. Maybe Kane should be more concerned about his poor performance than not getting a penalty. The Spurs number 10 barely got a sniff, spending most of the afternoon in Paul Dummett’s deep pockets. He had one other opening apart from the penalty, but fluffed his lines and scuffed his effort wide.
And Newcastle fans have been quick to point out the karma after his horror challenge on Florian Lejeune a couple of seasons ago went unpunished.
