Newcastle United players will get Christmas Day off ahead of the Boxing Day clash with Manchester United.
The Magpies head to Old Trafford on the 26th, and Steve Bruce has confirmed that his players won’t be in for training on Christmas morning.
He told the Chronicle: “I think it would be unfair of me to bring them in on the morning then ask them to travel.
“They’ll enjoy their Christmas morning with their families, then we’re back to work.”
This has to go down as a popular decision from the manager, who could very easily have got the players in for training ahead of tricky tie on Boxing Day.
Despite Manchester United’s struggles, Newcastle still go into the game as underdogs. But with Bruce’s side enjoying a strong end to 2019, they’ve earned a day off from training before they head down to Manchester on the night.
Morale seems to be very high at Newcastle right now, and Bruce’s decision to give the players time off can only boost it further. Let’s just hope the lads don’t stuff their face with turkey and chocolate before a tough game against Manchester United.
