Newcastle will face Leicester City in the second round of the Carabao Cup, meaning Ayoze Perez is coming home.
The Spaniard left St James’ Park this summer, and has since been very vocal about his reasons for departing Newcastle. The Foxes paid £30 million for his services, after Perez scored 12 league goals last season.

Leicester aren’t scheduled to take Newcastle on at St James’ Park until New Year’s Day, but the League Cup draw has brought Perez’s north east return forward a few months.
The pair will meet in the week commencing August 26th, with the TV games yet to be confirmed.
Steve Bruce has been very out-spoken about wanting to go for it in the cups this season, but most fans think the writing is already on the wall following last night’s draw.

It would be quite symbolic if Ayoze scored the winner for his new ambitious club, knocking out is former employers who are just happy to survive in the Premier League.
It would be even more painful to watch if he celebrated his winner with his now trademark ‘fingers in ears’ celebration. Sadly, it’s hard to see anything but that happening…
