It looks like Jacob Murphy’s future will once again be away from Newcastle.
The winger spent the second half of last season on loan at West Brom, narrowly missing out on promotion. But with a new manager at Newcastle, Murphy was one of multiple players set for another chance at St James’ Park.

However, it looks like Steve Bruce has the same view on him as Rafa Benitez did.
According to the Chronicle, Murphy is a loan target for Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield Town and Derby County. A move to Wednesday might be ideal, as it would possibly build bridges between the clubs after Bruce’s controversial departure from Hillsborough.
Regardless of where Murphy goes, it seems more and more likely that his long-term future is away from Newcastle. Big things were expected after his £12 million move from Norwich, but the 24-year-old has rarely looked the part in black and white.

Even during his loan spell at West Brom, Baggies fans were far from convinced by his efforts in the second tier.
Bruce needs to trim his squad, so letting Murphy leave on loan is a good decision. In an ideal world, he’d leave permanently but that seems very unlikely. There’s no chance we’d get our money back on him now.
A lot of fans were rooting for Murphy to succeed, but sadly he just isn’t up to standard. There have been flashes of talent, like his goal away to Manchester City or his assist against Stoke, but they’ve been far too rare.
