Reported target Jarrod Bowen has been on fire for Hull, and has scored four goals in as many days, as Toon fans hope he will be a Newcastle player in January.

Having bagged a brace for the Tigers at Middlesbrough on Sunday, which saw his side come from two goals down to secure a point, he backed it up with another double in Hull’s 4-0 drubbing of Preston North End on Wednesday.

It would be ludicrous to assume no other clubs have taken note of his impressive performances, all coming on the back of a 22-goal season last campaign, and Newcastle would have to move quickly to ensure his signature.

But Bruce was reportedly backing away from a deal in the upcoming transfer window, which is extremely hard to fathom, given Newcastle’s lack of goals, and the obvious talent the 22-year-old has.

There is little doubt he will be able to cope with the step up from the second tier to the Premier League, and would be a superb addition to the Newcastle side, with the goals he is likely to bring with him, urgently needed at St James’ Park.

But many fans are already fearing Newcastle’s chances of signing the talented winger are receding, with many not optimistic, suggesting he is simply too good for us to sign.

It will be a blow for fans if he does not arrive at Newcastle, given the length of time we have been linked with him, and the fact his talent is worthy of the fee they are reportedly asking.
