Despite taking the lead via Matty Longstaff, Newcastle were battered 4-1 by Manchester United on Boxing Day.

Steve Bruce made four changes to the side that beat Crystal Palace, including restoring the Longstaff brothers to the starting lineup. But while Matty got his second Toon goal of the season, older brother Sean had a stinker.

The elder Longstaff had a night to forget, sloppy in possession on more than one occasion before gifting Anthony Martial a goal with a woefully short pass back to Martin Dubravka.

It’s been quite the 2019 for Sean Longstaff. He started it on top of the world, breaking into the Newcastle first-team and holding his own against some of the best players in the world.

But things have since gone awry for the midfielder. He’s struggled to recapture his form from last season, and tonight he was seriously shown up by his younger brother Matty.

Against the team that desperately wanted to sign him this summer, Sean had a shocker.
