Newcastle United are keen to sign Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka, according to Roma Giallo Rossa.

The Italian outlet report that alongside interest from AS Roma and Tottenham Hotspur, the Magpies are looking to add the 23-year-old to Eddie Howe’s squad.

The centre-back is out of contract in the summer, meaning the Bundesliga outfit could be forced into an early sale in January.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has also claimed that Arsenal ‘like’ the Frankfurt man, so competition is rife in the race to secure his signature.

Ndicka has started every single game for the German club in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League thus far this season.

As a result, his departure will come as a huge loss to Oliver Glasner’s side.

Ndicka could become Botman’s long-term partner

At just 22-years-old, Botman has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in European football.

Since arriving on Tyneside this summer, he has been an absolute colossus in Howe’s back four.

The youngster is already an incredible leader, with the ability to back it up.

Therefore, Newcastle will be hoping to keep the Dutchman at the club for the foreseeable future.

However, the issue here is that the other Toon centre-backs are all nearing their time at the top level.

Although Dan Burn has come in and has been exceptional at St James’ Park, he is 30 years old.

This is also the case for Fabian Schar, who has been excellent for Howe this term, providing a reliable option to partner up with Botman.

As a result, it is imperative the Magpies sign a long-term prospect for the defence.

Ndicka could be the perfect addition to the squad, with great experience under his belt at just 23-years-old.

Described as ‘phenomenal‘ by Adi Hutter, the youngster is expected to push on for a place in the French national team in the coming seasons.

Potentially available on a cut-price in January due to his dwindling contract, Ndicka could be a shrewd bit of business for the club. Not to mention the club’s long-term future, as a potential partner for Botman.
