Newcastle United could offer Neymar an escape from his Paris Saint-Germain nightmare this summer as the fans have turned on the Brazil star.
A report in The Independent has said that angry PSG fans have gathered outside Neymar‘s home chanting for him to leave the club
This comes at the same time as Lionel Messi was handed a two-week suspension by the French club for making an unauthorised visit to Saudi Arabia.
Could Newcastle capitalise on the unrest to bring Neymar to the PL?
Clearly not all is well in the French capital and PSG, already resigned to losing Messi this summer, may now be forced to sell Neymar too.
Newcastle were touted as one three clubs who could actually afford Neymar last summer but the Brazilian megastar apparently put a stop to those links before they ever went anywhere.
Now, though, the picture at Newcastle is very different with Champions League football looking all but certain, so could it be time for the Magpies to get a little cheeky?
Neymar Jr is currently on a £606k-a-week deal at Paris Saint-Germain which is already a huge problem for Newcastle. Financial Fair Play rules mean that Newcastle are at a serious disadvantage when it comes to offering such crazy wages, but could the board convince him to take a hefty pay cut to facilitate a move away from such a hostile environment?
It’s still too soon for crazy-money megastars at Newcastle
Obviously I’m just dreaming here, and to be quite honest, I don’t even know if Neymar would pass Eddie Howe’s “no whoppers” policy.
But we’re in a world where we were once again linked with a move for Lionel Messi, so why not Neymar?
In all seriousness, I think there’s a zero percent chance of this happening, but the way things are going with the Newcastle project, we’re not far away from being able to sign players of Neymar and Messi’s ilk.
