Newcastle had been linked with moves for Jarrod Bowen and Harry Wilson. However, their lofty price tags seem to have put the Magpies off.
Both players are reportedly valued at £20 million, which ultimately ended Newcastle’s interest. According to the Chronicle, the money Hull wanted for Bowen meant Newcastle were no longer keen.

Meanwhile, the Shields Gazette reported that the Magpies were no longer interested in Wilson because of his price tag and Liverpool’s unwillingness to send him out on loan again.
£20 million is certainly a lot of money. If either arrived for that fee, they’d be one of the most expensive signings in Newcastle’s history alongside Joelinton and Miguel Almiron.

Newcastle’s blueprint right now is signing young players with potentially huge re-sale values. So surely Bowen and Wilson should be right up our alley?
British players cost a lot more, for some unknown reason. But because of that, maybe Newcastle should have made a move for one of them.

If they’re worth £20 million now, with neither making any impression in the Premier League, imagine how much they would be worth after a few decent seasons at St James’ Park. Speculate to accumulate.
For footballing reasons, it’s a shame that neither will be wearing black and white this season. From a business perspective, it also would have made sense. Hopefully it’s a decision we don’t end up ruing.
