More predictable pundit waffle as ex-Sunderland boss David Moyes backs Steve Bruce at Newcastle

Newcastle’s start to the season has been dreadful, and Steve Bruce’s apparent ineptitude has seen fan-pressure mount, but he is still being backed by the usual merry-go-round pundits.

David Moyes is the latest failure to back his fellow failure-in-waiting, calling Bruce “a good man for the job” while sneakily giving a high-five to Mike Ashley in the process.

He told beIN SPORTS: “I don’t see why Steve shouldn’t manage Newcastle. I think he is a good man for the job. He has been round the houses and he has a good idea of what is going on. Give him an opportunity.

“I think the supporters want to grumble on about the owner but I think the owner has tried to come up with a bit of money and it sounds like he is trying to sell the club. Whether that’s true or not I don’t know.

“But I have to say, I think you have got to give Steve the opportunity to see if he can do it.”

So there it is then.

The former Sunderland boss, and multiple management flop says we should appreciate what both Ashley and Bruce are doing, and give him time. What twaddle!

So how long should we give him then, David? Until we are rooted to the bottom, and double-digit points adrift? When it is mathematically impossible to stay up? When were are buying tickets for the Tyne-Wear derby in the Championship – assuming Sunderland get promoted – next season?

No thanks.

My eyes do not deceive me, and I have already seen enough.

Steve Bruce will see Newcastle relegated

He is out of his depth; captaining a sinking ship; drowning in quicksand. Choose whichever metaphor you like, they all fit.

I do not care one iota what a manager who cannot find work due to his failures at every recent club says.

The facts do not lie, and anyone who thinks they have seen any sign that he can get Newcastle out of the predicament they find themselves in, is watching a different football team than the one I have seen.
