Joelinton was unveiled as a Newcastle player on Tuesday in a club record deal which finally kick-started the club’s recruitment drive following the turmoil that has dogged their summer.
The arrival of the striker will give a lift to the whole squad, but one player should be excited more than most at the signing.
Before the Brazilian’s arrival, Miguel Almiron was our record signing, and while the Joelinton deal dwarfs the fee paid for the him, it is the Paraguayan who could be the biggest beneficiary from the deal.
The trickery and pace of the former Atlanta United star could be tailor made to supply Joelinton with ammunition to create plenty of goal-scoring opportunities next season.
Joelinton could make Miguel Almiron an even better player
The thought of Almiron playing in a free role behind the former Hoffenheim striker and the second striker, should one be signed, is mouth-watering, and is likely to terrify many Premier League defences.
But Almiron could, in fact, also be used as a second striker, playing in the role formerly occupied by Ayoze Perez.
With a couple of the 6ft 1in striker’s strengths being his ability to hold the ball up and aerial prowess, the prospect of him winning aerial duels, or holding off defenders, with Almiron bursting through, feeding off the lay-offs and flick-ons, it may be a new position for him.
However Bruce decides to use Almiron, he will undoubtedly be excited at playing alongside the new man in Toon.
