Miguel Almiron goes to Aston Villa on Monday still searching for his first Newcastle goal, but Steve Bruce has singled the Paraguayan out for special praise ahead of the game.
The Newcastle boss is convinced Almiron’s elusive goal will come, and claimed he was “sensational” against Bournemouth, and he has never seen a player cover the distance he does during a game in 20 years.

Referring to Almiron not scoring, Bruce said: “It’ll happen. I hope it’s just a matter of time for Miggy because he’s a good player.
“His running statistics, in particular, I’ve never seen anybody in 20 years cover the distance, playing with the intensity. I’ve never seen it. It’s high as I’ve ever seen. It will come because he’s a multi-talented player. He just has to score once,” he added.

Almiron’s all-round performance against the Cherries definitely saw him back to his best, and he has been improving each week. The only thing missing, is a goal.
Newcastle duo offer potent counter-attacking threat
With the former MLS star and Allan Saint-Maximin offering dual threats on the counter-attack, Newcastle look as dangerous now, as they have for years.

If Saint-Maximin can continue to terrorise defenders, it is sure to see teams doubling up on him in future games, which should see more space and opportunities for both Almiron and, hopefully, Joelinton.
Almiron, with his pace, could maximise on any extra few yards of space he is afforded, and if Saint-Maximin can draw defenders towards him, before slotting in a through-ball for the Paraguayan speedster to run onto, a goal is surely just around the corner.
It will be a welcome relief when it arrives, and the morale-boost he will receive from it, could propel his performances to new, even gretaer heights.
Certainly everyone associated with the club – Bruce, the fans, teammates and the player himself – will hope it arrives in the next game, and Newcastle can then reap the rewards that follow.
