Newcastle United have been linked with a loan move for Chelsea’s Kenedy since the summer, but the deal is still yet to be concluded.
With Toon fans sweating on new signings, the Kenedy loan saga is becoming as tenuous as the takeover debacle.
The 21-year-old is reportedly keen on a move to the North East, but Chelsea are unwilling to sign off on the deal until they get a replacement, with the likes of Alex Sandro and Alex Telles being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
Antonio Conte’s side are almost famous for the number of players they send out on loan, yet Newcastle are the one club that cannot get a temporary deal done, perfectly summing up how bad the Geordies have been in the transfer market.
Dithering over deals has become synonymous with Newcastle transfers, and Kenedy is no different. If the deal cannot be done, move on. The Magpies have wasted too much time, and with the clock ticking, cannot afford to sit around and wait for Chelsea to sign a replacement before we get our man.
Is Kenedy even worth the wait? The Brazilian has shown flashes of talent, but has made little to no impact since arriving in England, and will no doubt need a bedding in period on Tyneside, which is not what Rafa Benitez needs. Newcastle need players to hit the ground running.
It is proving to be another shocking transfer window for Newcastle, summed up perfectly by the fact they cannot even get a player on loan from Chelsea, a club who have a full page on their website dedicated to players out on loan.
